Discovery Rangers

The Discovery uniform includes the khaki shirt and pants, and bolo tie. The right pocket features the Discovery name tab in red and white. Also shown are the District Ranger of the Year, and a Powwow patch. On the right sleeve are district and outpost number patches, and on the left sleeve we’ve added the American flag. The left pocket will display award patches as well as merit awards and training patches. This example indicates that this boy has earned all three of the medals- the gold falcon, the gold hawk, and the gold eagle.

This is the Discovery Rangers vest. On the front side of the vest, are the quarterly patches, starting at the bottom with the white, going to bronze, silver and up to the gold. On the other side would be all medals that have been earned (indicating the gold falcon, gold hawk, and gold eagle). Leadership status; assistant patrol guide, patrol guide, and senior guide is also represented. The red bars indicate Discovery Rangers. Activity patches, Powwow patches and National Camporama patches are also shown. On the back are merit awards that have been earned, as well as additional activity patches.

Discovery Awards Vest and / or Uniform Left Pocket

Many have asked if there is an option to the Discovery awards vest. Since the merit awards have been designed using seven different colors around the borders- blue, red, gold, silver, green, brown and orange, the boy or outpost will have flexibility in their uniform preference. An option to the vest is displaying the various merit award ribbon pins over the pocket of the khaki shirt. In this case a boy has earned sixteen of the blue border merits, 24 of his orange border merits, and 12 of his red border merits.
